MADURAI: A fervent appeal was made to the Government of Tamil Nadu by the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Madurai to roll back / stop/ withdraw the proposed hike in electricity tariff. In a press statement issued on 19th July 2022, the TN Chamber president Dr.N.Jegatheesan had made this appeal on behalf of the trade and industry and general public, and he had urged the State government to bring TANGEDCO into operational profitability through proper planning and administrative reforms.
The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce president Dr.Jegatheesan had cited in his appeal to the State government about the plight of MSMEs after the COVID pandemic, the hardships of residential houses, the difficulties of common man due to increase of petrol and diesel rates and the daily struggles faced by the people due to increasing rates of essential commodities/ food products etc.”The increase in electricity tariff cannot be tolerated and it will have worsening effect on daily lives of our people from all sections.,” he said in the press release from Madurai.
