MADURAI: BJP Madurai Urban district president Dr.P.Saravanan has today lashed out at the DMK government in Tamil Nadu for having ‘miserably failed’ in smooth conduct of Chtihirai festival in Madurai and for the death of two devotees in the stampede that took place during the entry of Lord Kallazhagar into Vaigai River here on April 16th.
“The famous Chithirai festival is happening after a gap of two years and naturally it is expected that there will be a huge congregation of devotees. Police handling was very poor, the stampede was due to lack of proper arrangements to control the surging crowds. That the DMK is anti-Hindu was very clear if we see the bad arrangements made for Chithirai festival and Lord Kallazhagar’s Vaigai river entry,” Dr.Saravanan had accused while addressing a press conference in Madurai today- on Monday- 18th April 2022.
Holding the district administration, police and local authorities responsible for the stampede in Madurai, the BJP Madurai city president has said that the arrangements were so bad that Lord Kallazhagar’s palanquin did not go to 60 ‘mandagapadis’ in the route’ and that itself is enough to show how much the DMK is against the Hindus and their beliefs.
Dr.Saravanan also demanded that action should be taken against the erring officials for their failure in making safe arrangements. “It is all publicity stunts being done by the DMK government led by Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin. Even the Lord Kallazhagar gave way to an ambulance when he was coming to Madurai from his abode. What is so special in Stalin’s convoy giving way to an ambulance?,” he questioned.
The press meet in Madurai was organized to inform the media about various programmes conducted to commemorate the founding day of the BJP. “Lot of atrocities are taking place under the DMK rule in Tamil Nadu, from the Meenakshi Temple festivities to smart city projects. People are getting fed up with the DMK. There were lot of irregularities during the urban local body elections, the Madurai Mayor is missing and she is not seen anywhere, property tax was drastically increased and the latest is Madurai stampede killing two persons and injuring several persons in the melee. BJP will not remain silent and our cadres in Madurai are taking the message to the people,” Madurai Urban district BJP president Dr.P.Saravanan has said at the press meet in Madurai today.
