MADURAI: For the benefit of women passengers during this summer season, a ‘Sungudi’ sarees outlet was opened at Madurai railway station on Saturday- 9th April 2022, under the ‘One Station One Product’ scheme. The sales at this outlet commenced in the presence of Additional Divisional Railway Manager Mr.Thanneeru Ramesh Babu, senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mr.V.Prasanna and Assistant Commercial Manager Mr.K.V.Pramod.
Sale of ‘Sungudi’ sarees will be there for 15 days at this outlet. This is a short duration second phase exhibition cum sales which was mooted by the Railway Board to receive feedback and suggestions about this scheme. Sungudi saree manaufacturer was selected under Expression of Interest. The first phase of handloom exhibition cum sales was organised at the Madurai Railway Junction in the third week of August 2021, according to a press release received from the Madurai Division of Southern Railway here today.
