MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has made an appeal to Air India Express and Indigo Airlines to commence flight operations in Madurai-Kuala Lumpur-Madurai sector citing various reasons and justifications in this regard.
Mr.N.Jegatheesan, TN Chamber president, in a press statement issued from Madurai on 4th April 2022, has made an appeal on behalf of trade and industry and the general public to the CEO of Air India Express and Indigo Airlines to start the Madurai-Kuala Lumpur-Madurai flight service because recently the Air India Express had introduced flights in Kuala Lumpur-Tiruchi-Kuala Lumpur sector.
“Madurai is the second most important city after Chennai in Tamil Nadu. It is a gateway to southern districts. There is a significant presence of Tamil speaking people in Malaysia and hence they would visit their places every year. More than 60 per cent of passengers bound for Malaysia who are now using Tiruchi airport are from Madurai and southern districts. The Madurai airport is equipped to handle passenger capacity. Since Madurai is an important tourist and healthcare destination with reputed hospitals, the Tamil Nadu Chamber is making an appeal to commence flight operations in Madurai-Kuala Lumpur-Madurai sector,” Mr.Jegatheesan has said.
