MKU’s new VC will focus on inter-disciplinary approach, data science and app platforms

MADURAI:The new Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Dr.J.Kumar wants to focus more on promoting inter-disciplinary approach of courses among students, data science and creating student-centric app platforms. Dr.Kumar has been appointed as MKU Vice-Chancellor by the Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.R.N.Ravi today- on 29th March 2022.

“MKU is one of the biggest universities in India. I want to give a special thrust for inter-disciplinary approach towards courses for making students employable and equipped with more skills. I told the Governor that I will give special importance to make our students practically oriented with adequate training and employability skills. Giving more choices to students during the course period will enable them to learn things of their interest,” Dr.Kumar told the ‘Lotus Times’ news website over phone from Chennai today.

Dr.J.Kumar said that he will decide tomorrow on when he will assume the charge as MKU Vice-Chancellor. He is currently serving as UGC-BSR Faculty Fellow at Crystal Growth Centre of Anna University in Chennai.
