COIMBATORE: The South Zone Vice Chancellors’ Meet 2021-22 being organized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in partnership with United Nations began at Bharathiar University in Coimbatore on 11th March 2022 with focus on ‘Realizing Sustainable Development Goals through Higher Education institutions for ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education’.
Mr.R.N.Ravi, Governor of Tamil Nadu, inaugurated the meet at Bharathiar University which is hosting the two-day meet on 11th and 12th March. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin was the guest of honour.
Dr.G.Thiruvasagam, president, AIU and Vice-Chancellor of AMET University-Chennai, delivered the presidential address and AIU secretary general Dr.Mrs.Pankaj Mittal spoke on the theme of this important south zone vice-chancellors’ meet. Prof.Dr.P.Kaliraj, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, had welcomed the delegates while Prof.Dr.K.Murugavel, Registrar in-charge, Bharathiar University, proposed a vote of thanks.
Several sessions and interface were lined up in this two-day meet which were chaired by leading academicians including Prof.Dr.Suranjan Das, AIU vice president and Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Prof.Dr.N.Panchanatham, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai, Prof.Dr.H.Venkateshwarulu, Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Kerala, Prof.Dr.S.P.Thyagarajan, former Vice-Chancellor of University of Madras and Prof.Dr.P.Kanagasabapathi, chairman, ICSSR.
The valedictory session on 12th March 2022 will be addressed by Dr.T.R.Parivendhar, Chancellor, SRM University-Chennai and Mr.B.K.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan-Coimbatore Kendra and chairman of KCT Group of Institutions, Coimbatore.
