What is good and what is missing in the Union Budget?: Foodgrains Merchants association’s reaction

MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association has welcomed the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament today- on 1st February 2022- by saying that the government has taken steps to reboot the country by announcing certain projects and schemes that are good at the time of third wave of COVID pandemic. Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam, association president, in a press statement gave a budget reaction by pointing out what are the welcome announcements and what are not fulfilled in the budget today.

WELCOME POINTS:

1. Under making New India schemes for job opportunties for more than 60 Lakhs is a welcoming one.
2. Nation wide railway line construction for more than 2,000 km is a welcoming one.
3. The announcement of 25,000 km road construction and maintenence the next coming financial year is a welcoming one.
4. Under Vande Bharath Scheme, 400 tails are expected to roll-on in next three years and what is needed is to have more number of new generation trains for Tamil Nadu.
5. We welcome for the announcement new project to support for youngsters to become business entrepreneurs.
6. The announcement for encouraging Organic cultivation and farming is a welcoming one.
7. Announcement on Oil seeds and Millet cultivation promotion activites is a welcoming one.
8. The announcement of Godavari-Pennar-Kaveri river linking scheme is a welcoming one.
9. For water irregation technique 44,000 crores of allocation is a welcoming one.

able to pay the bank loans and some even lost there livelihood could have been given a concession in their individual tax relief ,” Mr.Jeyapragasam said.
The daily food essential items should be given a tax relief under GST, the press statement said.
