Southern Railway GM inspects Madurai and Dindigul railway stations

MADURAI: Southern Railway General Manager Mr.John Thomas on 13th December 2021 had inspected the various works going on in Madurai railway station and the amenities provided to passengers. He commenced the inspection in the morning and enquired about the works’ progress during his interaction with senior officials of the Madurai Railway Division here. The GM inspected the new signal system being provided in Madurai railway junction, passenger waiting halls and amenities on Platform 1 etc. Later, he reviewed the new building works carried out in the Madurai railway station through video conferencing.

There is a plan to have a subway connectivity between the railway station and Periyar bus stand here for the convenience of passengers and general public. Mr.John Thomas told reporters that the Pamban rail bridge works will be completed soon. He informed that all trains will be restored in a phased manner to the pre-Covid pandemic levels, a press release received from the Madurai Division of Southern Railway here, has informed. Among those railway officials present during the General Manager’s inspection include Chief Commercial Manager Mr.Ravi Valluri, Mr.SriKumar and Mr.Prafulla Varma besides Divisional Railway Manager Mr.Padmanabhan Ananth. He presented certificates of appreciation to railway employees appreciating their good work. The GM also proceeded to Dindigul to carry out inspection there with special focus on train safety measures, food quality etc.
