MADURAI: World Environment Day was observed by the Southern Railway Madurai Division on 5th June 2021- Saturday- by planting tree saplings at various locations of railway premises to mark the significance of protecting the environment. Nearly 1,000 plant saplings were planted in surplus land available in Kudal Nagar Railway Yard area in Madurai, a press release from the Madurai Division of Southern Railway here had informed today.
Special arrangements have been made to maintain the newly planted tree saplings- Amla, neem etc. Also, saplings were planted in Railway Colony area by Mr.Lalit Kumar Mansukhani, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai Division, Mr.A.P.Tirunaga Senthilkumar, senior divisional mechanical engineer and Mr.Makesh Kadkari, Divisional Environment and Housekeeping Manager.
Among other railway officials who took part in World Environment Day tree sapling planting event were Mr.D.L.Ganesh, Station Director cum Divisional Commercial Manager, Mr.Madhu, senior divisional operations manager and Mr.Balasubramanian, assistant health officer, They planted 20 tree saplings in eastern and western entrance area of Madurai Railway Junction.
