MADURAI: Mr.M.Venkatesan, Chairman of National Commission for SAFAI Karamchariars, had carried out inspection in Madurai city on 21st February 2021 for the welfare and protection of conservancy workers. He had enquired about the safety measures for conservancy workers in Madurai Corporation areas during his spot inspection- field visit at Subramaniapuram, Avaniapuram localities here today.
He went to Arunthathiyar community residential area, he received petitions and heard their grievances, he had breakfast at Pandian Mukkammal’s house and went on to know the needs and welfare issues of conservancy workers in Madurai Corporation area. Mr.M.Venkatesan, Chairman of National Commission for Safai Karamchariars had inspected the toilets, asked about sewerage clearing process, maintenance of public toilets etc.
Madurai Corporation ACHO Ismail Fathima, Assistant Commissioner Premkumar and others were present during this field visit-inspection in Madurai today- on 21st February 2021 Sunday. Mr.Venkatesan also visited the family members of a deceased conservancy worker, a press release from the Madurai Corporation here today informed. The difficulty and hardships about manual scavenging by conservancy workers were taken to is attention, sources added.
