MADURAI: Madhuri Jaiswal, senior Divisional Finance Manager, Madurai Division of Southern Railway, Madurai, was among those who was presented the 2019-20 year Railway Week Awards. She received the Railway Week Award from Southern Railway General Manager Mr.John Thomas at the award presentation function held at Tirunelveli on Wednesday- 17th February 2021, a press release from the Madurai Division Railway PRO office here today informed. (Because of COVID-19 pandemic lockdown norms and rules, the last year’s railway week awards could not be presented in April last year).
Every year, the Railway Week is celebrated in the month of April (10th to 16th April) to commemorate the running of first train in India on 16th April 1853 (Mumbai-Thane, for a distance of 34 kms). The Railway Week Awards are presented each year to railway employees at divisional and headquarters-zonal level, and the railway employees will be recognized with cash prize-shields-awards for their good performance.
GM VISIT FOR INSPECTION:
On Wednesday, Southern Railway General Manager Mr.John Thomas had visited Tirunelveli area for year-end inspection of railway works to inspect Ambasamudram works etc. After completing his inspection along with senior railway officials of Madurai Railway Division, he had presented the 2019-20 award to Southern Railway’s Madurai Division Finance Manager Madhuri Jaiswal. The press release here said that 16 staff members at various levels were given awards, the Madurai Division railway press release here added.
Ms.Aruna Nayar, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, Southern Railway and top SR officials Neenu Ittyerah, Sudhir and R.K.Mehta were among those who greeted the recipients of Railway Week Awards 2019-20.
