MKU students’ induction for M.Sc Biomedical, Gene Tech

MADURAI: An induction programme for the students who joined M.Sc Biomedical Sciences and M.Sc Microbial Gene Technology was organized through video conferencing in Madurai Kamaraj University on 18th September 2020. Prof. M. Krishnan, MKU Vice-Chancellor, had delivered presidential Address. He had emphasized the significance and importance of biomedical research for the betterment of humanity and advised
the new students to use the facilities available in the university and collaborating Velammal Medical College.

Dr. J. Sangumani, Dean, Government. Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here, delivered keynote address. He recalled the research developments that happened in gene and molecular diagnosis of disease and challenges in Covid-19 diagnostics. Dr. K. Balakrishnan, co-ordinator for Biomedical Science programme, welcomed the audience and Dr. V. Shanmugaiah, the co-
ordinator of Microbial Gene Technology programme, proposed a vote of thanks.

Dr. B. Ashokkumar highlighted recent developments in biomedical research. Both these courses will be offered under newly created School of Biomedical Science which was approved by Syndicate, Senate and Academic Council of the University and Government of Tamil Nadu. More than 45 students and faculty were present.
