Climate Change training for journalists begins at MKU

MADURAI: The online training program on ‘Climate Change, Bay of Bengal and Media’ being jointly organized by the Department of Communication, Madurai Kamaraj University and INTERNEWS Network, USA, began today- on 12th September.

Prof.Dr.M.Krishnan, MKU Vice-Chancellor, had inaugurated the online training program today. This online training is for journalists and mediapersons in Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari districts. Three separate 2-Day training programmes are being conducted each one at each district / region. (Ramanathapuram region 12th and 13th Sept, Tirunelveli region 19th and 20th September, Kanyakumari region 26th and 27th September).

Dr.S.Nagarathinam, Chairperson, Professor and Head, Department of Communication, School of Linguistics and Communication, MKU, has informed today that experts in the field of Climate Change Resilience and Adaptation, Bay of Bengal and Media are delivering information to the respective district /region mediapersons.

This programme is aimed to connect experts and media persons to identify, understand and produce media contents at local level. Bay of Bengal and its relation to the Climate Change, adaptation, mitigation, resilience and impacts on public will be the topics of discussion during the training programme.
