Kalam’s collection given to National Archives on April 28th 2025.

MADURAI: Former President of India late Dr.AP.J.Abdul Kalam’s private papers comprising his original correspondences, passport, Aadhar card, Pan Card, tour reports etc were today acquired by the National Archives of India.

The collection also includes Dr.Kalam’s lectures delivered in various universities and organizations besides several original photographs, according to a press release received from the Press Information of Bureau (PIB) here today- April 28th 2025.

This vast collection belonging to Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam was donated to the National Archives of India (NIA) by Dr.APJM Nazema Maraikayar who is the niece of late Dr.Kalam and Mr.APJMJ Sheik Saleem, grand nephew of the former President of India.

Mr.Arun Singhal, Director General, National Archives of India, has today signed an agreement with Dr.APJM Nazema Maraikayar, the PIB press release has informed. This important ceremony was also attended by Mr.APJM Jainulabudeen (nephew of Dr.Kalam) and Mr.APJMJ Sheik Dawood (grand nephew of late Dr.Kalam).

Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam (Dr.Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam) who is known as missile man of India was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born on October 15th 1931 in Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu in a humble family. He was accorded Bharat Ratna award which is the country’s highest civilian honour.

The National Archives of India is the custodian of the non-current records of the Government of India and holds them in trust for the use of administrators and researchers as per the provisions of the Public Records Act, 1993. It houses a rich collection of private papers of eminent Indians from all walks of life who have made significant contributions to the nation.
