
MADURAI: The 71st Acharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu will be administered and anointed on April 30th 2025 by conducting Sanyasa Sweekara and anointing ceremony in the mutt on the day of auspicious ‘Akshaya Tritiya’.
An announcement to this effect was made by Sri Shankara Matam at Kancheepuram today by giving details about the 71st acharya whose name is Sri Duddu Satya Venkata Surya Subrahmanya Ganesha Sharma Dravid.
“Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetadhipati Jagadguru Pujyashri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal will bless ‘Sanyasa Deeksha’ to Sri Ganesha Sharma Dravid on the auspicious Akshaya Tritiya day- 30th April 2025-at Kanchipuram. The sacred event coincides with the 2534th jayanti mahotsavam May 2nd 2025 of Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya who established Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam at Kanchipuram in the year 482 BCE,” the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam has officially announced to the devotees and public today- April 25th 2025.

Shri Ganesha Sharma Dravid is a Rig Vedic scholar from Annavaram Kshetra in Andhra Pradesh. He served at Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam in Basara in Telangana. He was initiated into vedic studies in the year 2006.
“With the blessings of His Holiness, Sri Ganesha Sharma Dravid has also completed Yajurveda, Samaveda, Shadangas, Dashopanishat in addition to Rig Veda and he has been pursuing Shastric studies,” the Kanchi Mutt has informed today through its Srimatam Samsthanam.
