MADURAI: The Christian Reformation People Association has today alleged that 4.05 acres government land at Pasumalai in Madurai which was given on lease to the Church of South India (CSI) Trust Association for society benefit was illegally sold by using fake documents.
“The government land was leased to CSI for 99 years with a condition that it should be used for the benefit of poor and needy welfare activities. But, we have now found that there is a fraudulent sale of government land in Pasumalai through forged documents. Our association has identified the 4.05 acres land property and we have submitted a petition to the Tamil Nadu’s Director General of Police and Land Administration Commissioner to take action and reclaim the government land,” Mr.D.Devasakayam, president, Christian Reformation People Association, has alleged in a press release issued today-April 20th 2025.
He urged the State government to form a committee headed by a retired judge to oversee the recovery of government lands across Tamil Nadu which were misused by the CSI.
“Our Christian Reformation People Association from Srivilliputhur is demanding that criminal proceedings should be initiated against those responsible in selling the Government land given to CSI on 99 years lease. There should be a through enquiry on CSI legal advisor Fernandes Rathina Raja and CSI property officer Johnson Israel to get the full facts about the 4.05 acres Pasumalai land which is in question now,” Mr.D.Devasakayam has appealed to the police and State government in his press release on April 20th 2025 which also mentioned the name of former CSI Bishop Mr.Christopher Asir stating that the sale of Pasumalai land took place when he was the Bishop.
