
MADURAI: The world famous Aravind Eye Hospital from Madurai is creating its another expansion milestone with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art eye care facility at Thanjavur tomorrow-April 20th 2025.
Mr.P.R.Venketrama Raja, Chairman, Ramco Group, will be the chief guest while Mr.Babaji Rajah Bhonsle, Hereditary Trustee, Thanjavur Palace Devasthanam, is the guest of honour for the inaugural function of Aravind Eye Hospital which is situated at new bus stand backside in Thanjavur.
“This hospital at Thanjavur which is being inaugurated tomorrow is our eighth tertiary care hospital. The land area is eight acres of land and it is a top class buildings facility with three lakh square feet…Thanjavur is an under served area in eye care services and with this hospital, we will be reaching out to the predominantly agrarian population in that region of Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Ariyalur etc. It will be a significant eye care facility for non-paying patients….People from that area are who are now coming to Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai or going to Pondicherry for eye treatment will benefit with the opening of our new hospital in Thanjavur,” Dr.N.Venkatesh Prajna, Director (Academic and Finance), Aravind Eye Care System, told ‘Lotus Times’ media in Madurai today.
EIGHTH TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL:
The Aravind Eye Hospital has a vast network across Tamil Nadu and the Thanjavur facility will be its eighth tertiary care hospital. Its tertiary care hospitals are situated at Madurai, Tirunelveli, Puducherry, Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem and Tirupati. There are secondary centres providing ophthalmic care cataract services at places including Tiruppur, Udumalpet, Dindigul, Theni etc.

“We also have 120 full-time primary eye care centres across Tamil Nadu and with this huge network we are able to provide quality eye care to patients in every nook and corner.
