Medical camp conducted at Madurai Central Prison for prisoners with focus on skin, ortho and eyes; Rotary Club of Madurai West takes the initiative

MADURAI: A general health checkup medical camp was conducted in Madurai Central Prison here today-April 16th 2025-to provide doctors’ attention and treatment to the prisoners with focus on ortho, skin and eye care.

The Rotary Club of Madurai West had taken the initiative along with Kripa Trust and the Department of Prisons and Correctional Services-Madurai, jointly with AVSS Hospital, Agarwal Eye Hospital and Krishna Eye Care, according to a press release here today.

Mr.A.Murugesan, Deputy Head of the Department of Prisons and Correctional Services-Madurai Region, Mr.M.Satheesh Kumar, Prison Superintendent of Madurai Central Prison and Mr.Raja Govindasamy, Rotary District Governor, RI District 3000 were among those present at the inauguration of the general medical camp for held for prison inmates.

“This medical camp was conducted successfully under the auspices of Rotary Club of Madurai West president Mr.Dhanarajan, club secretary Sumathi Gnanaguhan, past president Rajee Dhanasekaran, district secretary Mr.Sundaravel and members-Saravanakumar, Dr.Mythily Pandian and Mr.Gnanagugan. Medicines and spectacles were provided free of cost to the needy prison inmates, and also books were donated to the prison library in Madurai today,” the Rotary press release said.
