MADURAI: Reliable sources in Tamil Nadu BJP have today strongly indicated that the name of Mr.Nainar Nagendran has been finalized by the party’s national leadership to be the new State president of Tamil Nadu BJP in the place of Mr.K.Annamalai.
“The choice of our senior leader and Tirunelveli MLA Mr.Nainar Nagendran will be announced on April 11th 2025 by the party leadership officially. There are reasons for selecting him. Already Brahmins were there as State presidents, Gounder community was there, Nadars got a chance to be State president and SC too got an opportunity to lead the party in Tamil Nadu as State BJP chief. So, the left out chunk in our political reasoning was Thevars and so our party leadership is going for Nainar Nagendran this time by taking into account the political situation in southern districts of Tamil Nadu where Thevar vote bank becomes crucial for 2026 Assembly elections,” BJP sources at State level told ‘Lotus Times’ English media today.
A senior leader who is closely coordinating the Tamil Nadu BJP affairs also said that the Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi will meet only a few political leaders in Madurai airport tomorrow – on April 6th 2025- after coming from Pamban bridge inauguration and before taking off for Delhi, and the leaders include OPS and A.C.Shanmugham as of now.
“The political alliance with AIADMK is confirmed and BJP’s legislature party leader Mr.Nainar Nagendran is final choice to lead the BJP in Tamil Nadu. There is no possible meeting as of now with EPS in Madurai even though there is a strong speculation,” sources in BJP Headquarters in Chennai said today evening and added that things may change due to political dynamics.
