MADURAI: The issue of giving promotions in time to the teaching faculty and also for non-teaching administrative staff working in Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here was raised at the Academic Council meeting held today-March 27th 2025.
E.Sundaravalli, Commissioner of Collegiate Education and chairperson of MKU Conveners Committee, had chaired the meeting held in the university and assured the AC members that “the matter is under active consideration”.
This matter was taken up for discussion after academic council member Dr.Githesh had expressed concern over the inordinate delay in giving promotion orders to all the eligible MKU teaching staff under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and wanted for a discussion on this important matter.
“There is a long delay in giving promotions. Even though the process was completed, promotion orders are not yet given to faculty,” he pointed out and asked the convener committee chairperson to intervene in this issue. The timely promotions issue got support from several members of the Academic Council including Dr.K.Sadasivam and Dr.D.Ganesh.
“Promotion is a motivation for teachers. CAS process was over more than one year ago. Mr.Rithesh had raised a right issue. CAS promotions are important for the faculty and it should be done in time. I am also requesting you to take up promotions for our MKU administrative staff also. The next visit of NAAC team is in the year 2027 and for that it is important to have equal ratio of professors, associate professors and assistant professors as per the guidelines,” Prof.Ganesh and Dr.Sadasivam have said.
MKU Syndicate member S.Deenadayalan too had endorsed the members’ request and said that this is a long pending issue and hence it is important to fix a right time frame for giving promotions to eligible faculty from teaching side and also the administrative posts in non-teaching side.
