
CHENNAI: Mr.Ram N Ramamurthy, an old student and a proud alma-mater of Ramakrishna Mission Students Home at Mylapore in Chennai, had donated Rs.1.3 crore worth skill development equipment to the institution where studied during 1977-1985.
This skills learning machinery was dedicated to students at a event organized in Ramakrishna Mission Students Home on March 26th 2025 with benediction by Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, president, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission (Worldwide), who has come to Chennai from RKM headquarters in Belur in Kolkata.
The donor Mr.AKS Ram N Ramamurthy is presently managing director of EIPP Solutions Private Ltd and past president of Rotary Club of Madras Mount. “He donated Rs.1.3 crores as Rotary CSR grant to Ramakrishna Mission Students Home. This grant was used to procure learning equipment for skill development project to the polytechnic college.The equipment includes lathe, welding simulators, interactive smart boards, computer numerical control machines etc,” a press release received from Rotary International District 3233 media wing has informed yesterday.
Rotary District 3233 Governor Mr.Mahaveer Bothra and the RKM office-bearers lauded the Rotary CSR efforts and the donor Mr.Ram N Ramamurthy who in his speech said that it is a proud moment for him as a past student of RKM Students Home to provide the skill learning equipment donated by his company through Rotary CSR grant for the benefit of polytechnic college students thanks to the corporate social responsibility initiative.
“The Rotary International and Ramakrishna Mission Students Home in Mylapore in Chennai are celebrating their 120th year as both were established in the year 1905. While Rotary’s motto is ‘Service Above Self’, the motto of RKM Students Home is ‘Palace for the Poor’,” the Rotary press release from Mr.Sreehari Abhilash,, additional chairman-media relations, Rotary International District 3233, has added.
The Ramakrishna Mission Students Home in Mylapore in Chennai is imparting knowledge for 650 students in school and polytechnic college every academic year and most of the students are orphans and from economically weaker sections of the society, the press release said.
