MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association which is headquartered in Madurai has made an appeal to the GST Council to extend the last date of amnesty scheme to pay GST taxes without interest and penalty to June 30th 2025.
A memorandum of this request with reasons was submitted by the association to GST Council Additional Secretary Mr.Pankaj Kumar Singh for the benefit of stakeholders to get full benefit of the amnesty scheme and its main request is to to extend the last date from March 31st to June 30th 2025, according to a press release received here today.
Mr.S.V.S.S.Velshankar, president, Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association, Mr.S.Sai Subramaniam, honorary secretary and Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam, honorary advisor, have issued a press release here today-March 20th 2025- urging the GST Council, Union Finance Ministry and State authorities for their immediate intervention.
“This Amnesty Scheme was announced only in September 2024 and March 31st 2025 was announced as the last date for payment of tax. But, it was informed to us in last November that the required forms will be available only from January 2025. Since the stakeholders could not receive the needed forms in time to join this amnesty scheme of GST, we are requesting that the last date be extended by another three months. We are urging the GST Council and Union Finance Ministry to issue orders extending the last date till June 30th 2025. This will benefit those who have to pay GST taxes for financial years 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20. Since the last date is getting over on March 31st 2025, we are making this appeal to the Additional Secretary of GST Council in New Delhi Mr.Pankaj Kumar Singh,” the association has said in its press release here today.
