NEW DELHI: Higher education teachers across the country will wear black badges on coming March 24th, 25th and 26th to press for their various important demands and draw attention of the State and Central governments by organizing meetings, seminars and conventions at college, university and State level following a nation-wide call given today by the All India Federation of University & College Teachers’ Organisations (AIFUCTO).

There will also be a massive protest in front of the Parliament in New Delhi on April 29th 2025, AIFUCTO president Prof.Dr.M.Nagarajan and general secretary Prof.Dr.Arun Kumar have informed in a press release issued from Patna on March 18th 2025.

“AIFUCTO demands that the government provide pay scales instead of grants and also give salaries on time. Paying salaries to newly appointed teachers, restoring M.Phil and Ph.D increments, regularizing guest teachers and withdrawing the UGC Draft Regulation 2025 are the important demands,” the press release said.

Prof.Dr.Arun Kumar has appealed to the Bihar Chief Minister and universities Chancellor to intervene immediately and he also announced today that AIFUCTO will extend its support to the ongoing movement of affiliated degree colleges teachers in Bihar who are pleading and demanding “No Grant, But Pay Scale”.

AIFUCTO had passed a resolution at its national convention held recently in Ludhiana in Punjab where it was conveyed that teachers of affiliated colleges are the most affected and humiliated when it comes to salary.

“Due to lack of political will in Bihar, the college teachers are deprived of pay scales so far. The Bihar government failed to make payments even during festivals like Holi. Teachers appointed six months ago in universities like Mithila University and B.N.Mandal University have not received their salaries yet and this is a matter of concern. The government is also hesitant to formulate a policy to regularize guest teachers appointed under the UGC norms. AIFUCTO condemns it strongly and hence to press for these demands of university and colleges teachers, there will be wearing of black badges and protest,” Prof.Dr.Arun Kumar, AIFUCTO general secretary, has said in the press release issued today.
