MADURAI: The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has today-March 4th 2025- issued notice to Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here to respond within three months about the complaints of malpractices, irregularities, bribery charges and abuse of official positions in varsity in the alleged Ph.D marks scam in the university.
Advocate V.Kalaiselvan had filed a writ petition in the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court and based on this complaint a notice was issued to MKU today directing them to respond in 12 weeks time, sources told ‘Lotus Times’ media giving full details of the petition.
“The future of 1,094 students of MKU is a question mark. So, a writ petition was filed in the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court seeking a direction to DVAC to investigate the alleged malpractices, irregularities, abuse of official positions and bribery charges against university superintendent Mr.Kuppusamy and American College Principal Dr.Davamani Christober and research coordinator Dr.Vasantha and also several insiders and office assistants in MKU. Grace marks, grade system and normalization formula method are illegal and they are against the UGC and MKU official guidelines. The Honourable Court today ordered notice to the respondents 1 to 11 from MKU and they are given 12 weeks time to respond,” advocate Mr.V.Kalaiselvan has said.
He further said that Research Coordinator Dr.Vasantha continues in her position even after her retirement and no action has been taken against MKU Research Section superintendent Kuppusamy despite complaints made to the varsity authorities.
“The writ petition was allowed and notice served to MKU. There are doubts about the notification issued by university and enquiry committee formed by MKU….So, based on the petition, the HC Bench here issued notice to MKU when it came up for hearing,” advocate Mr.Kalaiselvan said and added that the court notice went to MKU Registrar in-charge and his team to respond in this case. The MKU Ph.D. marks scandal petition came up before Hon’ble Mrs.Justice J.Nisha Banu and Hon’ble Mrs.Justice S.Srimathy on March 4th 2025 morning and after that the notice was served to university.
