MADURAI: A clear roadmap with key growth drivers that can make Tamil Nadu one trillion dollar economy by the year 2030 was unveiled at an important summit held in Madurai today- January 18th 2025.
Dr.Ponraj Vellaichamy, scientist and scientific advisor to former President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, had given the vision roadmap at the inaugural session of FeTNA International Tamil Entrepreneur Network (FITEN) here today morning and address a large number of entrepreneurs who attended this summit organized by the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA).
“The key growth drivers for Tamil Nadu will be textile and apparel industry, aerospace corridor, smart agriculture and AI-driven firecrackers industry at Sivakasi with automation and safety. We also have foundry industry, minerals, energy crops and climate smart agriculture to give a momentum. If Tamil Nadu puts its focus on these sectors, it can become a $ 1 trillion economy by 2030. Hosting global investors meets, creation of industrial corridors and focus sectors like green energy, EVs and IT will definitely put our State in top position to achieve our vision,” Dr.V.Ponraj said.
He stressed that translating MoUs into realized investments is a big question right now and hence it is suggested that Tamil Nadu must approach with a clear direction “and our vision is transforming TN as an economic growth engine” by tapping the creative minds, entrepreneurship spirit, enabling environment and great HR potential available in the State.
“Tamil Nadu is presently ranked 4th in India for FDI inflows. When we see at all India level, it is seen that the remittances of NRIs is more than the FDI that came to India. Figures are telling that NRIs are remitting 100 billion US dollars while FDI was 84 billion US dollars and Tamil Nadu contribution to India’s GDP is 9.22 per cent,” he pointed out.
Mr.Manuneethi Manickam, Chairman, MAK Group of Companies and Mr.Vijay Manivel, FeTNA president were among those who spoke about the immense potential available in Tamil Nadu and in Madurai region.
