CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor and universities’ Chancellor Mr.R.N.Ravi had visited Anna University in Chennai today afternoon- December 28th 2024- to review the security measures that are in place following the distressing sexual assault incident that was reported from within the university campus a few days ago.
“The Tamil Nadu Governor went to Anna University campus in Chennai to interact with the students and to ensure that immediate and decisive action is taken to safeguard students. He met the university Registrar and senior faculty members, interacted with them and reviewed the security measures taken within the Anna University campus. He interacted with boys and girls separately and he listened to their perspectives and suggestions in order to make the Anna University campus a more safe and secure place,” a press release received from Raj Bhavan in Chennai has informed while giving details about the Governor’s security review at Anna University campus today.
Mr.R.N.Ravi has stressed that the safety and well-being of students are non-negotiable and he has instructed the university administration to take immediate action on safety/security issues raised by the students and “he also advised the students and their parents not to panic”, and the Tamil Nadu Governor has today directed the university administration to ensure a culture of safety and accountability, the Raj Bhavan press release added.
