MADURAI: Thanks to the relentless efforts taken by the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Madurai to promote air connectivity from here, there is going to be a daily flight from Madurai to Malaysia’s Penang with effect from December 21st 2024.
The Madurai airport was declared as a 24X7 airport from October 1st 2024 by the Government of India and immediately the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry had kicked off its steps for improving the domestic and international air connectivity from Madurai airport.
A meeting was convened in Madurai by the TN Chamber president Dr.N.Jegatheesan and his team by inviting senior officials from Madurai airport and related government agencies along with stakeholders from travel and tourism sectors.
“As an immediate decision from that meeting conducted by the Tamil Nadu Chamber here, there is going to be a flight connectivity between Madurai and Malaysia Penang…from December 21st 2024 by IndiGo…The timings of this flight service will suit the air passengers from other places also who are flying to Malaysia.This flight service from Madurai to Malaysia is going to be very convenient for the people, traders, business community and tourists,” Dr.N.Jegatheesan, president, Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has said in a press release from Madurai today and he said on December 18th 2024 that the Madurai-Malaysia flight connectivity will be a boon because there is a large number of people from Karaikudi area who are now living in Penang in Malaysia.
