Rotary conducts inter-school quiz competition in Madurai; Idhayam School wins trophy and gold medal, Lakshmi School gets silver, VMJ School bronze

AT QUIZ: Students and Rotary Club members on November 28th 2024 in Madurai.

MADURAI: An inter-school quiz competition was conducted by the Rotary Club of Madurai Midtown (RI Dist 3000) here on November 28th 2024 on the occasion of Rotary District Governor’s visit to the club and students from Interact Clubs from various schools had actively participated and showed their knowledge prowess.

Students of Interact Clubs from 10 schools took part in this quiz contest which was hosted by the Interact Club of Sairam Vidyalaya in the city. The first place with trophy and gold medals was bagged by Idhayam Rajendran School as title winner while the second place runners-up trophy was won by Lakshmi School-Veerapanjan with silver medal and the third place went to VMJ School which got the bronze medal.

This inter-Interact Club quiz competition was anchored by quiz master Mr.Nicholas Francis who is a popular trainer through his self-confidence motivation sessions.

Rtn.R.Jeyagomathinayagam, president, Rotary Club of Madurai Midtown, has said in a press release that conducting quiz competition for students is an important project of the club because it brings out the potential of new generation youth under the banner of Rotary International. “Our club has a long standing association with Interact Clubs in educational institutions through skill development programs,” he said.

Rtn.Rajagovindasamy, Rotary District Governor-RI District 3000, was all praise for the students who participated with enthusiasm and also urged the Rotary club to take this quiz program to rural schools also. He gave away prizes and medals to the winners in the presence of members of Rotary Club of Madurai Midtown.

HOW THE QUIZ WAS CONDUCTED?

The preliminary qualification round was conducted in a written format. Out of the 10 schools that took part, five schools were selected for the finals and the organisers were happy that students are able to keep themselves abreast with current affairs and also had the presence of mind to answer tricky questions, a press release received from the Rotary Club has said.

Schools which went to the final round were Interact Club of TVS Matric Hr.Sec.School, Interact Club of Lakshmi Matric Hr.Sec.School-Veerapanjan Madurai, Interact Club of VMJ Hr.Sec.School, Madurai, Interact Club of Idhayam Rajendran Hr.Sec. School, Madurai and Interact Club of Sairam Vidyalaya, Madurai. There were five rounds for the final covering history, science, general knowledge, audio-visual round and rapid fire.

All the participants were given participation certificates by the organizing team that included Rtn.T.Ganesan (Interact Chairman), Rtn.RS Rathnaraj, Rtn.Ganesamoorthy, Rtn.R.Manivannan and Rtn.A.Surya (club secretary).
