MADURAI: A hitech electric gasifier crematorium was opened at Press Colony situated opposite to Mattuthavani Bus Stand in Madurai today- November 15th 2024. The crematorium charges per body is Rs.2,000.
This electric gasifier crematorium project took shape thanks to the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry here which came forward to extend its support and contribution to the Madurai Corporation and to the State government for setting up the gasifier crematorium at Press Colony in Mattuthavani, in Zone-1, Ward 10 of the Madurai Corporation.
The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is celebrating its centenary year this year, had contributed Rs.1.02 crores while Rs.49 lakhs came from the State government under the ‘Namakku Naame Thittam’ scheme, and the total cost of the project is Rs.1.51 crores. This hitech electric gasifier crematorium will be maintained by the TN Chamber.
Madurai Corporation Deputy Mayor Mr.T.Nagarajan had inaugurated the electric gasifier crematorium in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Dr.N.Jegatheesan, chamber secretary S.Sridhar along with TN Chamber vice-presidents J.Selvam and D.Dhanushkodi, chamber joint secretary ‘Pharma’ G.Ganesan and former TN Chamber president Mr.V.Neethi Mohan and other office-bearers.
