MADURAI: In order to allow construction works for railway station redevelopment, the main entry at Madurai railway station will be closed from 3 pm on November 11th 2024.
The main entrance on the east side of the Madurai Junction will be closed so that new east terminal work under the station redevelopment work project can be carried out, a press release received from the Madurai Division of Southern Railway has informed here today evening.
The press release issued on November 9th 2024 has said that a new temporary entry has been provided near the booking office for passengers, with signage placed to guide the train passengers to this entrance. An enquiry counter will also be operational at this new entrance provided near the booking office, the railway press release added.
Barricades will be set up to restrict access to the area where construction is taking place at the present main entry of Madurai railway station and passengers are requested to cooperate with this new arrangement for the timely completion of railway station redevelopment works at Madurai railway station, the railway authorities had appealed to the public.
