Sabarimala pilgrims can now carry ‘Irumudi’ in flights: TN BJP leader thanks PM Modi Govt for giving exemption

MADURAI: Tamil Nadu BJP State general secretary Prof.Dr.Raama.Sreenivasan has thanked Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation for giving exemption to Sabarimala temple pilgrims allowing them to carry ‘Irumudi’ in aircraft cabin.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security had issued an official notification from New Delhi on October 25th 2024 stating that ‘coconuts carried by pilgrims to Sabarimala temple in ‘Irumudi’ shall be allowed in aircraft cabin, till the duration of Mandalam-Makaravilakku pillgrimage up to 20th January 2025.”

This exemption order was issued yesterday and it will come into force with immediate effect and it shall remain valid till 20th January 2025, Mr.Zulfiquar Hasan IPS, Director General, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, New Delhi, has said and mentioned about this exemption for handling of restricted items in flights.

The exemption granted to Sabarimala temple Ayyappa devotees and pilgrims shall be subject to satisfaction of screener, after screening the items through X-ray, ETD and physical check in the airports, the Director General said.

Responding immediately to this exemption, BJP State general secretary Prof.Raama.Sreenivasan from Madurai has thanked the Modi government and airport security authorities for their kind gesture to prevent inconvenience to pilgrims of Sabarimala who want to go by flights by carrying ‘Irumudi’ with them.
