Lit the Light Trust lights up Diwali celebrations for 175 visually impaired families in Chennai

CHENNAI: Diwali festival celebrations hosted by Lit the Light Trust in Chennai had ushered in joy and support to 175 families of visually impaired individuals including local train vendors from Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts.

A cracking Diwali celebration event was specially organized for the visually impaired and their families at A.M.Jain College in Meenambakkam in Chennai on October 20th 2024 to emphasize recognition of talent and community spirit, a press release received from ‘Lit the Light Trust’ has informed.

The guest list for this celebration included well-known playback singer Ms.Anuradha Sriram and Southern Railway Deputy Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer Ms.V.Prema (IRAS) along with Dr.M.Ramesh, Associate Professor and author from the Department of Tamil at Presidency College in Chennai, Mr.Kiran Kumar, Operational Head-CSR at Williams Lea India Pvt Ltd-Chennai, Dr.B.Mahavir, Principal, A.M.Jain College here and Dr.S.Anantha Krishnan, Vice-Principal, A,M.Jain College.

“Each family received groceries, sarees, pant-shirts and gifts worth Rs.4,000 and ensuring that they could celebrate the coming Diwali festival with dignity and joy. There were special performances to showcase the talent of visually impaired individuals. The event today had reinforced the Trust’s mission to improve the livelihood of those with visual impairments. We look forward to continuing our work and support more families in the future,” Mr.Barath S.N, founder of Lit the Light Trust has said and specially thanked the event partner Williams Lea for their financial support and to the Rotaract Club of A.M.Jain College for their volunteer assistance.
