Election in MKU on Oct 25th for three MUFA posts: New president coming unopposed, but keen contest for vice-president, general secy, joint treasurer posts

MADURAI: The final list of nominations for various posts of Madurai Kamaraj University Faculty Association (MUFA) here in Madurai was released category-wise today, on October 14th 2024. after scrutiny.

Dr.M.Buvaneswaran from social sciences is getting elected unopposed as MUFA president while there is going to be a contest for the posts of vice-president and general secretary. The candidates in fray for vice-president post as per the final nominations list are Dr.R.Radhika Devi from Women’s Studies Centre of the university and Dr.U.Ramesh from biological sciences.

For MUFA general secretary post, the nominations came from Dr.K.Sadasivam from economics and Dr.S.Murugesan from chemistry. The joint secretary and treasurer of this association are getting elected without contest as Dr.G.Jayachandran from economics and Dr.C.Muniyandi from economics are the candidates who filed nominations with no others in the fray.

However, the joint treasurer post of MUFA is going to have a contest as there are two candidates vying for this position- Dr.U.Karuppathevan of Tamil Studies and Dr.T.Arokiadoss of DDE (Physics).

The faculty members of MKU who are going to be Executive Members of MUFA Dr.A.Mahalingam (Historical Studies), Dr.T.Gopinath from performing arts, Dr.C.Ravisankar of Tamil Studies, Dr.K.uma from Business Studies, Dr.J.Balasubramaniam of Linguistics and Communication, Dr.V.Ilampartithi from Film and Electronic Media Studies, Dr.C.Amutha from biological sciences, Dr.K.Anitha of physics, Dr.M.Rajan from chemistry, Dr.N.Muthuraju of social sciences, Dr.R.Menaka of DDE (management), Dr.T.Jebasingh from biological sciences and Dr.K.Umaraj of linguistics and communication.

As per the information given today, the election will be conducted for the posts of vice-president, general secretary and joint treasurer on October 25th 2024. The election notification was issued last month inviting nominations from eligible members for MUFA post for 2024-25. There will be 13 EC members in MUFA.

The Returning Officers for MUFA election in MKU are Dr.G.Ramakrishnan, professor, Department of Political Science, Dr.M.Sivakumar, professor, Department of Entrepreneurship Studies and Dr.R.Meenakshi, assistant professor, Department of Education.
