MADURAI: Senior BJP leader Mr.H.Raja had today lashed out at the DMK and Stalin Government for opposing the National Education Policy (NEP) and accused that the Dravidian party is putting wrong arguments and misleading the people of Tamil Nadu by playing language politics.
Speaking to reporters in Madurai today- on September 12th 2024, challenged whether the top DMK leaders and Ministers will allow their children to study in State government schools if they are really convinced that the quality of education in government and corporation schools is good and that the DMK is living only for Tamil language.
“What the Tamil Nadu Governor has recently said about poor quality of teaching and low education standards in State government schools is absolutely right. If the education quality is good in Government schools in the State, then Ministers’ children should study there. I am challenging the DMK….Will they admit their children in State government schools? The BJP will call their bluff soon. The DMK should first understand what the National Education Policy (NEP) has said about third language. It has clearly said any one of the Indian languages, but the DMK is making it a Hindi imposition issue. We in the BJP know how to fight these hypocritical forces,” Mr.H.Raja has said while talking to reporters in Madurai at the party office in Bibikulam here today.
Mr.H.Raja, who is presently heading an interim coordination committee to steer the State unit of BJP, has made these comments in the context of criticisim by the DMK government that the Modi government is not giving funds to Tamil Nadu for education.
“The PM Shri scheme comes with certain conditions and ready to give Rs.4,000 crores. But, one condition is that National Education Policy should be accepted by Tamil Nadu government. The former Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena had accepted…. but now the DMK is saying totally wrong. There are single digit students in hundreds of government schools. What is the DMK Government doing? How many Ministers’ children and how many councillors’ children are studying in government schools? For business, the DMK and its allies want Hindi language, but when it comes to people and common man, they oppose Hindi. Is it right when DMK leaders’ children go to private schools and study Hindi and third language?,” Mr.H.Raja had charged.
