Prof.R.Murali’s book ‘Neelakesi’ released in Madurai; Narrates Jainism philosophical aspects

MADURAI: A book authored by Madurai-based Prof.Dr.R.Murali about ancient text related to Jainism was released in Madurai yesterday- on September 8th 2024.

The 128 pages book in Tamil titled ‘Marandha Kaaviyam Neelakesi’ deals with philosophical aspects of Jainism and Neelakesi is a mythological character that explains Jainism in epic mode during that ancient period as debates with Buddhism.

Prof.A.Srinivasan, former Head of Tamil Department, Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), had released the book and the first copies were received by MUTA R.Krishnamurthy and Prof.P.Anandakumar from Gandhigram University, at the book release event held in Madurai yesterday.

“Samanars’ contribution is remarkable as saints and monks. Prof.Murali has now done a great work through this book which throws light on fiction character Neelakesi of ancient Jainism period. The book on this fiction work was presented beautifully in an interesting readable manner by the author, the book is well illustrated and this book written by Prof.Dr.R.Murali is very important because Jainism flourished in Tamil Nadu and Jainism had strong link with Tamil soil,” Prof.R.Krishnamurthy said.

Dr.A.Srinivasan said that Prof.Murali has been doing a tremendous service to the society through his writings and talks and he still remains a powerful teacher of philosophy subject, by continuing from his retirement from Madura College where he was Head of Department of Philosophy.

Among those who spoke at the book release function include Mr.Ajayan Bala of Nathan Publishers (Nathan Pathippagam) which brought out the book and Prof.R.Prabhakaran, former Head of Tamil Department, American College in Madurai.
