Minister inspects Goripalayam, Apollo Junction flyovers construction works in Madurai; To be completed by August 2025

MADURAI: Tamil Nadu Minister for Public Works and Highways Mr.E.V.Velu had today – on September 5th 2024- inspected the construction works in progress at Goripalayam and at Apollo Hospital junction in Madurai city.

The State government is constructing two bridges at two important places in Madurai in order to reduce traffic congestion. Speaking to reporters after inspecting the two flyover works, PWD Minister Mr.E.V.Velu has said that instructions were given to the contractors to complete the works on time as per the given schedule.

“Madurai is an important place in Tamil Nadu and this city is getting bridges for public convenience. Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin had laid the foundation stone last year (on 30th October 2023). The flyover at Apollo Hospital junction will have 28 pillars and the bridge length is 1,100 meters, it is a wide bridge. The estimate for Apollo signal flyover is Rs.150 crores. At Goripalayam junction also, I have instructed the contractors to speed up the works. The length of Goripalayam bridge will be 1,296 meters and its estimated cost is Rs.200 crores. The Apollo junction flyover will be ready by August 2025, and I told the contractor to complete Goripalayam bridge also in time,” Mr.E.V.Velu has said and added that works are going slow because of traffic during morning hours.

Madurai District Collector M.S.Sangeetha and top officials from Madurai Corporation and senior officials from related departments were present during the inspection.
