MADURAI: Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.R.N.Ravi has made a very serious observation on Teachers Day today- September 5th 2024- about the declining quality of teaching and education standards in government schools in Tamil Nadu.

“With his great vision, Kamarajar had established large network of government schools throughout Tamil Nadu….Unfortunately, the foundation is weakened and there is a steep decline in the quality of education. It is a dangerous situation both for the State and the nation. As per surveys, the standards of teaching in Tamil Nadu government schools has gone lower than the national average. Around 75 per cent of Class 9 students doesn’t recognize two-digit number while 40 per cent of them can’t read textbook of Class 2, making them unemployable. There is a widening gap of knowledge between the poor going to government schools and those who go to private schools. This is mortgaging the future of our people,” Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.R.N.Ravi has said while speaking at the Teacher’s Day celebration function held in Raj Bhavan in Chennai on September 5th 2024 where 17 teachers were felicitated for their exemplary services to the nation, and the Tamil Nadu Governor presiding over the ‘Think to Dare’ series-16 interaction with teachers and educationists.
