MADURAI: A strong appeal has been made to the Members of Parliament from Tamil Nadu to focus on getting the assent of President of India for the TN Bill on NEET issue which was passed unanimously in the Tamil Nadu Assembly twice.

“We need to be focused on getting the Presidential assent for Tamil Nadu Bill. That should be the main demand of our MPs from Tamil Nadu. An adjournment motion/call attention motion may be considered to discuss why the Bill is still being kept in the Ministry of Home Affairs and why it is not being sent to the President for her assent. While the struggle against NEET irregularities continue, the main demand as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned should be to get the President’s assent and I appeal to all MPs to effectively place their arguments in the Parliament,” Mr.P.B.Prince Gajendra Babu, general secretary, State Platform for Common School System-Tamil Nadu (SPCSS-TN), has said making a fervent appeal to all MPs on June 29th 2024.

TAKE SUPPORT OF INDIA BLOC MPs:

Stating that people are having lot of trust on the INDIA bloc MPs that they will do everything possible to uphold the principles of federalism and democracy, Mr.Prince Gajendra Babu had pleaded the MPs from Tamil Nadu to utilize the opportunity of strong opposition in Lok Sabha and ideologically committed leaders present in the Rajya Sabha.

“Getting Assent of the President for Tamil Nadu Bill L.A.Bill No.43 of 2021-The Tamil Nadu Admission to Under Graduate Medical Degree Courses Act,2021 which was unanimously passed on 13th September 2021 for the first time should be our focus now. The TN Assembly was convened on 8th February 2022 specially to discuss the Bill that was returned by the Governor and the same Bill was passed unanimously for the second time,” he pointed out.

Mr.Prince Gajendra Babu has said in his appeal letter to party leaders and MPs that the Bill has been with the Home Ministry for the past three years by adopting delaying tactics in order to frustrate the efforts of State government.

“I earnestly request each MP from Tamil Nadu to take the INDIA Bloc leaders in to confidence and ensure that all parties in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha raise the issue unitedly and help in securing the Presidential assent for the Tamil Nadu Bill. The irregularities and malpractices have proved beyond doubt that NEET is not the solution for ensuring merit in admission process in medical colleges and that NEET is not a solution for preventing commercialisation of medical education,” he said in his appeal letter issued from Chennai yesterday.
