GOVERNOR’S AWARDS: RAJ BHAVAN INVITES NOMINATIONS; AUGUST 9th IS LAST DATE FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS

MADURAI: Applications and nominations are being invited by Raj Bhavan for the Governor’s Awards for the year 2024 to recognize exemplary contributions in two categories- namely social service and environmental protection. Deadline for submission of applications is 5 pm on August 9th 2024.

Tamil Nadu Governor MrR.N.Ravi had instituted the awards to celebrate individuals and organisations dedicated to enhancing societal well-being and promoting environmental stewardship, a press release received from Raj Bhavan in Chennai has informed today- June 28th 2024. The applications will be scrutinized by a committee comprising of eminent persons.

Four winners will be selected under each category and a cash prize of Rs.5 lakhs will be given for institutional investors (one awardee under each category) and Rs.2 lakhs will be for winners under individual category (three awardees under each category) along with a citation.

Applications in the prescribed format are available on the Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan website (http://tnrajbhavan.gov.in/), should be filled up and submitted via email to awardsrajbhavantamilnadu@gmail.com. A hard copy of the application with supporting documents should also be sent to: The Deputy Secretary to Governor and Comptroller, Governor’s Household Office, Raj Bhavan, Guindy, Chennai-600 022.

Awardees will be felicitated in person by the Governor of Tamil Nadu on Republic Day-January 26th 2025. Individuals/institutions may self nominate (apply themselves).

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

Eminent persons like a serving or retired officer of the rank of secretary to Government and above (Government of Tamil Nadu), Joint Secretary to Government and above (Government of India), Vice-Chancellors of State and Private universities in Tamil Nadu, Padma Awardees or distirct collectors can nominate deserving persons/institutions who have done exemplary work in the said two categories- Social Service and Environmental Protection.

Applicants or nominees must have demonstrated impactful service over a minimum period of 10 years within Tamil Nadu in their field. Non-governmental Organizations and institutions are also eligible to apply, the Raj Bhavan press release has informed.
