NCC expansion is on the anvil, Agniveer is a great job and applications are increasing: NCC Deputy Director General motivates cadets in Madurai

MADURAI: A massive expansion plan of National Cadet Corps (NCC) is on the anvil to get more youngsters into the NCC and the support of State governments has been sought asking them to provide manpower support for this purpose, Commodore Atul Kumar Rastogi, Deputy Director General, NCC Directorate (Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar), has said in Madurai today.

“From the Government of India, a letter was sent to the Chief Secretaries of all States. We wrote to the Tamil Nadu government also asking for manpower support and other requirements so that NCC could be expanded and more cadets can be added,” he told reporters at a press meet in Lady Doak College in Madurai on June 24th 2024.

Com.Atul Kumar Rastogi had informed that there are plans underway to increase the NCC cadet strength from 15 lakhs to 18 lakhs in the country and in that process Tamil Nadu also is in focus for stepping up NCC expansion by motivating school and college students.

AGNIVEER IS A SUCCESSFUL SCHEME:

Urging the parents to allow their children to blossom, the NCC Deputy Director General had stressed that Agniveer is a great job, it is a successful scheme and hence the number of applications for Agniveer scheme is also increasing.

“Today, in my interaction with NCC cadets and students, I told them to make right choices based on their interest. Agnipath and Agniveer scheme has good scope and great role in our national security mission and who else can do that great job than being in the security forces and being a soldier. NCC gives through orientation and equip our youngsters with a frame of mind that our nation wants. Security is paramount for any country. I told the cadets to don’t hesitate in making their choice and don’t just try to make parents happy,” Commodore Atul Kumar Rastogi has said.

VISITS LADY DOAK COLLEGE IN MADURAI:

The NCC Deputy Director General visited Lady Doak College in Madurai today morning- on June 24th 2024- where he took part in an event which was attended by commanding officers and cadets from NCC Group Madurai, cadets from schools and colleges and staff from various battalions.

In his motivational talk to the cadets, he spoke on the importance of discipline and how to develop oneself to have a successful life. Cadets asked questions regarding SSB and how to join the Indian armed forces.

Dr.R.Beulah Jeyashree, Principal and Secretary of Lady Doak College-Madurai, had delivered the welcome address while Capt.Dr.T.Shanthameena, Associate NCC Officer, LDC, had proposed a vote of thanks.
