MADURAI: A few office-bearers of important teachers’ associations in Tamil Nadu have today confirmed that several college teachers in Government-aided colleges in Tamil Nadu seems to be violating the daily attendance rules in their respective colleges in the State.

“College Principals are making the adjustments. Because there is no bio-metric attendance for staff in many colleges especially in aided colleges etc. In some colleges, the teaching faculty gives their leave letter form in advance to the college Principal. The same thing also happens in universities too. If there is anything happening wrong in the college, they will tell their college Principal to take their leave form given in advance. Unfortunately, the Principal suffers whereas the college teachers try to escape,” a very reliable source in Madurai told ‘Lotus Times’ news website today on June 22nd 2024.

100 PER CENT VIOLATIONS:

Reliable sources from four Government-aided colleges in Madurai have today said that there are 100 per cent violations in staff attendance in colleges by the faculty.

“We need biometric attendance for all the staff. Why only self-financing staff are targeted? For the college faculty, they must work for 90 days per semester and 180 days during one academic year. But the attendance system of college teachers is not correct in some colleges, because they follow attendance register system where the staff comes and signs. At what time that particular faculty is coming, where they are going and who is giving permission is not known. So, the attendance system in all Government-aided colleges in Tamil Nadu should be made bio-metric attendance system. When they are coming, when they are leaving, where they are going should be recorded in digital format. The aided college teacher are taking 7th Pay Commission salary,” a college faculty member in Madurai told ‘Lotus Times’ media today.
