MADURAI: An open appeal has been made by the Association of Health Care Providers India-Tamil Nadu Chapter from Madurai today- on June 15th 2024- to the Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi government and to the Union Health Ministry to take note of the hardships being faced by private hospitals because of health tariff issues, reimbursement problems, rising costs etc.

The AHPI-Tamil Nadu Chapter had organized a one day conference in Madurai today on June 15th 2024 by focusing on ‘sustainability and growth in healthcare’ in which experts and healthcare professionals etc from various places in Tamil Nadu and across the country had participated and gave their inputs.

RATE FACTOR MUST BE SOLVED:

“Our association AHPI had submitted proposals to the Union Government to give additional budget allocation for healthcare in India. The allocation in terms of GDP should be increased because public health is a priority since tier-3 towns need specialist doctors and speciality hospitals in coming days. But, unfortunately the reimbursement to private hospitals is now less, unable to meet the costs, and we appeal to the Government and to the insurance companies to revise the hospital tariff by keeping the costs in mind and for quick/full approvals of patient bills for patients by the health insurance companies because universal health coverage is an important stand taken by government,” Dr.Girdhar Gyani, Director General of AHPI, has said in his opening remarks at today’s press meet in Madurai.

PRIVATE HOSPITALS PLAY KEY ROLE:

Dr.Alexander Thomas, Founder President and Patron of AHPI, Dr.Sathish Devadoss, president of AHPI Tamil Nadu Chapter, Mr.D.Rambabu, secretary, AHPI TN, Dr.Raju Sivasamy, organizing chairman of AHPICON 2024 and Mr.Adel J, organizing secretary of the conference in Madurai today, have also expressed the concerns and issued faced by hospitals in private sector.

“The Government-fixed tariff is not sufficient at all. Reimbursement from government is not coming in full for private hospitals. AHPI is the voice of hospitals in India. Nearly 85 per cent of tertiary care beds in hospitals in India are there in private sector. So, we want the Government to revise and increase the hospital tariff under PMJY Scheme-Ayush Man Bharat scheme. The costs are going up for all private hospitals- be it the medical equipment, electricity charges, land costs, building construction costs, specialist doctors etc. So, we request the government to revise and increase the hospital tariff fixed for patients in insurance schemes,” Dr.Sathish Devadoss and Mr.Adel J have appealed along with other experts while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of AHPICON 2024 conference in Madurai on June 15th 2024.
