MADURAI: Admissions for various courses in Madurai Kamaraj University College in Madurai city are going on in full swing for academic year 2024-25 as a large number of students are already thronging the campus seeking admission ever since the Plus Two State Board results were released last week.
“As of today (May 15th 2024), we have already received 2,500 applications. Separate admission counters are there for each course and our target is to touch 2,000 new admissions for undergraduate and postgraduate courses put together. The growing demand for admission is a very good sign for our college,” Dr.M.Buvaneswaran, Principal in-charge of MKU College told ‘Lotus Times’ news website in Madurai today.
The total student strength of the college is currently 4,100 and the entire staff are working on a mission mode to take the student strength to 4,500 this academic year, he added.
ACCESSIBILITY ADVANTAGE AND JOB-ORIENTED COURSES:
The MKU College Principal in-charge had pointed out that the strong points of this college are its location advantage, easy access and job oriented courses taught by experienced and vibrant faculty.
“A large number of our students come from nearby villages and areas surrounding Madurai city. Easy transport facility is a plus point for them. We have been continuously improving the infrastructure facilities in campus. Courses offered by MKU College like its MBA, MCA, B.Com, B.Com (CA), BBA, B.Sc (Hotel Management and Catering), tourism and hospitality management besides MTTM course enjoy good demand every year,” Dr.Buvaneswaran said.
The MKU College in Madurai city is offering 16 UG courses and it is in tune with the requirements by introducing B.Sc.Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and also offering B.A.(Sociology).
