MADURAI: Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.R.N.Ravi had accepted the resignation of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar and had sent an official communication to the varsity yesterday- last night- on May 3rd 2024.
Reliable sources in the varsity have said that the TN Governor and the Chancellor of MKU had accepted the Vice-Chancellor’s resignation yesterday evening, because Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar wanted to be relieved as VC and he had sent a request on April 30th 2024, to relieve him on personal reasons and health grounds.
(Prof.J.Kumar had assumed charge as Vice-Chancellor on April 1st 2022 for a three-year term and so he has another about one year to go).
“The Tamil Nadu Governor had accepted the resignation of our Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar. By the 10th of this month (May 10th), the Syndicate meeting of MKU has to be convened for deciding on the next course of action. The Tamil Ndu Higher Education Secretary had informed this to the university’s top authorities today,” MKU sources told ‘Lotus Times’ news website here today.
In the absence of Vice-Chancellor, the university will have a special panel called ‘Convener’s Committee’ of three Syndicate members to be headed by the Tamil Nadu Higher Education Secretary. Now, all eyes are on who will be in the MKU Convenor’s Committee till the next Vice-Chancellor is appointed by the Tamil Nadu Governor.
