MADURAI: Several complaints and grievances have come in from distance education students about the total lack of response from the examination section and certificates section in the office of Controller of Examinations and the Directorate of Distance Education Education of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) in Madurai.

In the last three days, several distance education candidates from North India who had passed out of MKU-DDE had contacted ‘Lotus Times’ English media website, had narrated their hardships in getting their degree certificates, exam related information etc from the university and explained their specific problems and requirements. These DDE students have been waiting for past many months for someone to help them out.

MKU GRIEVANCE PORTAL IS NOT WORKING?:

A few students who completed their courses in DDE had contacted ‘Lotus Times’ on April 29th 2024 and pointed out that getting certificates from MKU’s Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) is very difficult for students who passed out from other States like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh etc.

“The MKU-DDE grievance portal is not working and nobody picks up the phone or university officials do not provide e-mail reply. If any other State pass out students wish to contact the university regarding their documents verification or refusal of their admission from other universities in India, there is no system or officer available to guide us. Moreover, MKU do not provide acknowledgement receipt via e-mail or SMS regarding degree convocation certificate and maximum dispatch time. We need someone in MKU in a responsible position to help students of other States to get their certificates easily without any difficulty, irrespective of their pass out year,” a MKU-DDE old student who is waiting for final degree certificate, has said.

LINK WITH DIGILOCKER:

A couple of suggestions have come in from DDE students who are now waiting for their certificates etc that the university officials must link with Digilocker so that all old students (outside Tamil Nadu) can check their certificate online.

UPDATE THE MKU WEBSITE:

Another suggestion that came from a Delhi student was that the MKU website should be updated with new features so that other State students can easily access the university and a suggestion to update DDE website specially.

NO RESPONSE FROM UNIVERSITY PHONE NUMBER:

A DDE student from Jodhpur in Rajasthan has a grievance that there is no response from the MKU phone number (0452-245 8471- Extn 552, 516, 517) despite calling the number several times for degree certificate enquiry and also no reply from MKU Registrar office for this grievance.

An appeal has received from DDE old students today- on April 30th 2024- requesting the ‘Lotus Times’ to take up the students’ grievances with MKU top officials and see that there is a proper response mechanism in place for students who passed out many years back but are awaiting for their degree certificates and other information like how to get degree certificate online, convocation date information to be given early for other State candidates etc.
