MADURAI: Book reading habit among students and youngsters is getting a big boost thanks to the efforts being taken by Book Guild of Madurai which is conducting special programmes to immerse students into the world book reading in an open space with concentration and focus.
One such precious moment was created by the Book Guild of Madurai on March 28th 2024 at Gandhi Memorial Museum here in which 50 students of Guhan Matriculation Higher Secondary School came out to take a book and read in public space, at a special session curated and mentored by Francis Publications in Madurai, as a qualitative community space for promoting book reading and writing- www.bookguildofmadurai.in-bringing in a transformation among them with an enriching experience in the world of books.
Mr.Nicholas Francis, Founder and Mentor of Book Guild of Madurai, who conceived and implemented the program was positive that such book reading opportunity sessions could be beneficial to students and society at large, with an energizing environment in a relaxed mindset.
“Students were on on their own with their books, they brought books in short stories, fables, drama, motivational books, scientific fiction, biographies and award winning books of their choice, in both English and Tamil of their choice, to let their imagination take a flight of fantasy through the world of reading of books,” Mr.Nicholas Francis has said yesterday.
Ms.Sambhavi, staff coordinator from Guhan Matriculation Higher Secondary School and teacher Mrs.Kalaivani who is a member of the Book Guild of Madurai, had encouraged the students in this reading session.
Students had narrated what they read by becoming story tellers and Mr.Nicholas Francis says that it is possibly the best time that public parks and iconic venues open up their space for book readers and provide them an exclusive zone for the benefit of avid readers.
“Sir, when is our next program?”, the students had asked before boarding their school bus at Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai on 28th March 2024, an elated Mr.Nicholas Francis has said sharing the good moment with books and students.
