MADURAI: The Chennai GST Zone has formed a sufficient number of flying squads and static surveillance teams in each Commissionerate covering the entire jurisdiction and to stern the flow of illicit movement of goods which may be used to lure the voters during the election process in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.
A press release was issued from the Office of Principal Chief Commissioner of Cost and Central Excise-Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, in Chennai on March 20th 2024 informing that a control room functioning 24X7 has been opened in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for this purpose, and the general public are requested to contact the control room phone numbers for any information pertaining to illicit movement of goods/valuables etc during the election period 2024.
