MADURAI: Questions and doubts about the effectiveness of digital and social media campaign for political parties have been raised at the Digital Politics conclave organised in Madurai by ‘Digitamatix’ on March 2nd 2024.
An exhaustive meet on ‘Digital Politics’ took place in the city with participation of leaders from various political parties including Madurai MP Mr.Su.Venkatesan from the CPI (M), Prof.Dr.Raama.Sreenivasan from the BJP and representatives from other parties like Kanyakumari Lok Sabha constituency candidate Ms.Maria Jennifer of Naam Tamilar Katchi and Mr.Ananthan Ayyasamy from the BJP Startup Cell who took part in the panel discussion on digital politics along with social media team representatives from the AIADMK etc where they discussed whether the voters can be really influenced through social media and digital mode.
“Politics is a perception game. Parties should be able to know on what basis the voters make their choice at the time of voting in the booth on election day. Is the voter taking decision to vote for a particular party or candidate on the basis of party symbol, or caste, or religion, or cinema influence or is there anything else? The Artificial Intelligence tools should find out the reason based for voting and find out the narrative. The digital politics forum should tell us how to set the narrative, politics in our constituency, public policy etc,” Tamil Nadu BJP State general secretary Prof.Raama.Sreenivasan has said while expressing doubts whether digital politics alone is enough to reach the voters and he also said that the conventional mode of personally reaching the voters is always of high impact.
Madurai MP Mr.Su.Venkatesan has said that brand building for a candidate is happening beyond the party to which he belongs and so the individual’s brand maters a lot in elections. The conclave was organized in Madurai by ‘Digitamatix’ to discuss about digital politics, strategy management, data analysis, SWOT analysis, intelligence reports etc.
