
MADURAI: The Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Prof.J.Kumar has today informed the varsity staff and pensioners that the required grant from State government for disbursing of salary and pension is expected on coming Friday.
“The Government is asking for more particulars and data about certain things. We are providing whatever the officials are asking in the interest of our university. The latest information we have today is that the G.O. is likely be issued on coming Wednesday and the money will come to us on coming Friday,” he said while speaking to them here today-February 23rd 2024 (Friday).
Teaching and non-teaching staff of MKU have not received their salary for December and January, and with the announcement made by Vice-Chancellor today, the third month too will be added as the university has to pay February salary also.
The university staff are on protest in the campus and today is the 8th day of their protest demanding for salary. Members of Madurai Kamaraj University Faculty Association (MUFA), MKU Administrative Staff Association and MKU Pensioners Association are on protest for the last one week urging the quick disbursal of the last two months salary and pension.
“Our Registrar is taking all efforts and providing the data asked by Government and higher education officials. We are in touch with the Higher Education Secretary. Whether the Chief Minister had signed the file or not, I don’t know. But, the information we got is that the G.O. will be issued on coming Wednesday and money on coming Friday,” the MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar said while addressing a large gathering at the protest place in the university campus today.
