MADURAI: The Department of Psychology of American College in Madurai had organized a national seminar on ‘Positive Psychology’ on February 21st 2024 with the theme ‘Quality of Life’.
Dr.Umesh L Bharte, Assistant Professor in Department of Applied Psychology, University of Mumbai, Dr.Mamatha, faculty from Jain University in Bengaluru and executive director of non-governmental organization ‘Beru’ had addressed the technical sessions on topics ‘Indian perspective on health and well-being’ and gender equity and community well-being respectively.
Dr.Kavitha Fenn Arunkumar, Executive Director of Hannah Joseph Hospital in Madurai and consultant psychiatrist, gave a session on interpersonal relationships.
Dr.M.Davamani Christober, Principal and Secretary of American College, who presided over the inaugural session, had stressed on the importance of having a sound mental health for holistic development in the society.
Dr.P.M.Anurama, Coordinator, Department of Psychology, welcomed the gathering and assistant professor K.S.Amritha had proposed a vote of thanks. More than 500 students from various colleges attended the seminar, according to a press release from the college today.
